The Very Hungry Caterpillar Party: Brennan is 2!

This year, for Brennan's 2nd birthday, we had a Very Hungry Caterpillar party.  I failed to find the book for the party decor... but since then have found it.  Of course!

We had just family and a few close friends that came over for hot dogs and burgers.  Of course there were cupcakes and presents to boot!  My sister, mom, dad and college roommate, Jennifer were all in on helping!  If they wouldn't have been there, I wouldn't have gotten everything finished.  Not pictured are some chocolate-dipped and sprinkled pretzel rods that Jennifer made for the party.  Kimberly printed, cut out and placed all of the cupcake toppers and labels, whew!  My dad took charge of the veggie tray for the hamburger/hot dog fixings and my mom watched Brennan and Ashton while I made the icing and baked another batch of cupcakes.  Lifesavers!  My attempt at Parisian macaroons wasn't exactly perfect, so I bought some at a local bakery that I really love, Cupcakes Cubed.  They really only had holiday flavors, so I settled for the mint chocolate and pumpkin pie macaroons.  The pumpkin pie ones were lovely! However, we did have homemade white cupcakes with fresh strawberry frosting and homemade peanut butter chocolate swirl cupcakes with peanut butter cream cheese frosting.  Writing that out, it doesn't seem like I did much, huh?!  I did all of the setup and made sure that everything was cleaned and presentable, which in this house is a job in itself, haha!

Brennan had a blast, but wasn't sure about all of us singing to him.  The dead-pan stare picture is how he looked throughout the whole song.  He did love the cupcake, though, and took his time eating it while we all watched.  Then we opened presents and ate dinner.  I'm so happy that everyone could make it to the event.  We love this little guy and can't believe that he's 2!  Time is going too fast and I know I say that way too often, but it's definitely true.  Like a blur!

Oh my goodness, Christina! Such an adorable party! I love Brennan's shirt and the framed prints and yellow chevron fabric. What a fun way to celebrate Brennan!
